C&M Records was a small outfit so they worked out of a storefront and these kids [the Nobletones] happened to be from the neighbourhood and they went in and he recorded them first. The Nobletones had fantastic harmony and they wrote every song they recorded. They were from Elizabeth and composed by Ellis Dowles, Darnell Lamb, Howard "Punky" McDonald, Jerry Timmons, and Spencer "Boop" Timmons. The group recorded three singles for the label. C&M also had other artists like John Lester who had some R&B chart action with “Getting Nearer". Wanger/C&M existed 1958 & 1959.
