The Royal Debs are actually from Detroit, Michigan, They recorded five songs for James Newton.

James Newton wasn't a banker (his father was). James & Gus started the label to record and promote artists to major labels. Their one big success was Johnny Jenkins & the Pinetoppers (Otis Redding). many styles of music on the label with many unissued sides by all artists. The Royal Debs are from Detroit, MIch and were going to College in Southern GA at the time. I have all the mail and photos of the group (inc. the ones you used above).
