Biography :

The Four B's were a vocal group who worked on the Louisiana Hayride for four years from 1955. Louisiana Hayride was a radio and later television country music show broadcast from the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana, that during its heyday from 1948 to 1960 helped to launch the careers of some of the greatest names in American country and western music. Elvis Presley performed on the radio version of the program in 1954 and made his first television appearance on the television version of Louisiana Hayride on March 3, 1955. On The  Louisiana Hayride, the Four B's backed Jack Ford, Carl Belew, Margie Singleton, Faron Young and many others.

The Four B's
Four B's with Jimmie Davis, Webb Pierce & Faron Young.

The four B’s were Buddy Sepaugh, Brad Ingles, Ben Nordine, and Bob McGee.  All their first names began with B.  Brad Ingles was originally from Ohio but had been stationed in Louisiana.  Buddy Sepaugh was from Shreveport, Bob Mc Gee was from Longview, Texas and Ben Nordine was from Shreveport.  They had worked with Johnny Horton on his SESAC Repertory album and sang back-up on several Ram singles. On the Louisiana Hayride The Four B's play a part in mellowing some of the country sounds in the later part of the '50s after they saw how the Jordanaires' sound could add to the depth of the increasing number of pop-rock songs on the show.

Their main affiliation was with Johnny Horton but they recorded with Merle Kilgore on IMPERIAL in 1958. They saw one single in their own right, "Love Eternal" b/w  "I Played The Fool" on D RECORDS and they later recorded for Mercury as the Sherwoods.  Buddy Sepaugh made solo discs as Buddy Paul and other aliases and Brad Ingles and his family gospel group performed for some years on a reborn Hayride run by David Kent in Benton, Louisiana well after the original show had ended.

1959 - Walking All Alone / Hey, Little Girl (Nau-Voo 807)

Biography :

The original edition of  The Jades was a white, R&B group, formed in 1957, from Charleston, West Virginia. Along with their band ,the Bluetone Orchestra , their recordings of "Hey, Little Girl" and "Walking All Alone", written by lead singer Ron Brooks, were produced by Nau-Voo Records in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1959. "Hey, Little Girl" was given a very good rating by Billboard Magazine and was briefly successful in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.  Shortly thereafter, Dee Clark came out on Vee-Jay Records with a different "Hey, Little Girl" which became very popular at that time. Since Vee-Jay Records had a much larger company and distribution network, Nau-Voo Records could not compete and ceased to distribute The Jades "Hey, Little Girl". The singing group then disbanded. Other members of the group were Dave Ellison, Gene Moffatt, and Denzil Shamblin. their version of "Hey, Little Girl" has become a very rare, white doo-wop record.

Unreleased :
1963 - There's A Light (Ember)
1963 - Barbara Is Coming For Her Lover (Ember)

Biography :

Black vocal group from Washington D.C consisted of Richard Fountain, William Jones Jr, Jimmy Drake, Horace Logan & Benjamin Thomas. In 1962, Benjamin Thomas & Richard Fountain write the fantastic "Shedding Teardrops" and C. Otis, Brook Benton and  Cirino Colacrai (The Bowties) wrote the beautiful "In A Dream". Ember released the two songs "In A Dream" b/w "Shedding Teardrops" on Ember # 1099 (Ember is an ABC Paramount subsidiary).  The group's Ember release unfortunately occurred in 1963, when the Ember label was not going well. Unfortunately, Consequently, neither the group nor the release received any promotional support or attention. Yet both pieces are fantastic (in my opinion) . Two other songs were recorded by the Paramonts, probably at the same session, but "There's A Light" and "Barbara Is Coming For Her Lover" will be unpublished by the label ...

George Goldner did not like "Because I" and changed it to "You Can Come". That was declared a bit risqué so a month later they called it "If You Want To". A month after that is finally settled down as "You Can Come If You Want To". Same song, same master with four different titles . This shuffling around didn’t help the promotion of the record and it quickly disappeared. After one more release for George Goldner’s Gone label, the group was gone.
