Biography :
Vocal and instrumental group fronted by Dewell Everette in early sixties with Sammy Everette, Sonny Bates and Larry Mason. The group played rock-n-roll and R&B essentially. During the latter stages of 1961 and on into 1962, The Dual-Tones made a lot of appearances at Record Hops and Dances and their popularity was gaining momentum all through in the Northwest Georgia and Chattanooga area. Dewell Everette wrote two songs, “One More Kiss” and “I Left Her Crying” that he will record with his group in Reavis Recording Studio in Nashville. The single will be released on Do-Ra-Me in early 1962.
Murray Nash (Do-Ra-Me )
Do-Ra-Me was launched in 1959 by Murray Nash. In early 1960, Nash bought Reavis Recording Studio in Nashville from Joe Reavis and established his "Recording of Nashville" studio there, which had been in the Cumberland Lodge Building from 1955 on. A lot of the recordings on Do-Ra-Me were recorded at Sound of Nashville. Despite their preference for rock and roll, “One More Kiss” is a great doo wop and “I Left Her Crying” a gentle stroll.

Dewell Everette, Sammy Everette, Larry Mason and Sonny Bates
Larry Mason (Drums) has traveled and performed with Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Michael Landon, Waylon Jennings, Tom T. Hall, Jenny C. Riley, Grandpa Jones, Justin Tubb, Lynn Anderson, Jack Green, Dottie West at the Ernest Tubb Record Bar in Nashville, Tenn., and for the Bob Brandy Show for numerous years, just to name a few.

1957 - My Only Desire / On Bended Knee (Atco 6058)
Biography :
Bill Pinkney was not present at the very first recording session by the Drifters in June 1953 ("Lucille", "Gone"). However, by the time "Money Honey" was recorded two months later, Pinkney sang second tenor, alongside Clyde McPhatter. When bass singer Willie Ferbie became ill, Pinkney dropped down to bass. He sings on some thirty recordings made by the Drifters between August 1953 and June 1956. In September 1956, Bill was fired from the group by George Treadwell (the Drifters' manager), after he had the nerve to ask for a raise for the group.
Bobby Hendricks
Pinkney, not one to brood, immediately put together a group called The Flyers. The other members were Bobby Hendricks (tenor), Dee Ernie Bailey (tenor/baritone), and Billy Kennedy (baritone). Hendricks and Bailey had been members of the Swallows. They signed to Atlantic's Atco subsidiary for one 45, "My Only Desire". This group listed in Atlantic's Master Book as "Pinckney Flyers" . The Flyers stayed together for about a year. However, after two Drifters received a letter from Uncle Sam in 1957, Pinkney was in and out of the group for performances. He rejoined the Drifters in the studio for the "Drip Drop" session of May 1958, taking Bobby Hendricks with him.

Biography :
Lou Christy was born as Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco in Glen Willard, PA in 1943. He studied music and voice at Moon Township High School., where he was the student conductor of the choir. At age 15 Lugee, as a member of the singing group the Crewnecks with future Lions’ Bill Fabec , auditioned for pianist Twyla Herbert. She offered the Crewnecks a place to rehearse. He sang solos with the choir at the holiday concerts. His teacher and mentor Frank Cummings wanted him to pursue a career in classical music, but Lugee wanted to cut a record to get on American Bandstand.

The Crewnecks (1959) : Bill Fabec, Amyr, Judy Hoskinson and Lou Sacco
He performed with several vocal groups, worked as a session singer, and recorded songs on small Pittsburgh labels between 1959 and 1962. In 1960, Lou Christie with Kenny Krease, Kay Chick & Shirley Herbert recorded some songs as the Classics. He released with his sister Amy Sacco, Kay Chick and Bill Fabec "The Jury" as "Lugee & The Lions" on Robbee with local airplay and sales. The tiny Pittsburgh label, Robbee Records, launched in 1960 by local pianist/bandleader/producer/arranger Lennie Martin (who named it after his son Robert), and his partner Lou Guarino.

Lugee & The Lions backed Marcy Jo on her national hit “Ronnie”. Marcy Jo was 17-year-old Marcy Rae Sockel, born on January 4, 1944 in Pittsburgh, and the song Ronnie (which she wrote) was actually about her boyfriend Howard ."Ronnie" ended up at # 81 Hot 100 in June 1961. The Lions also did background vocals on a record by Chic Christy (no relation) for Hac.

In 1962,Sacco approached Nick Cenci with some demo tapes. Cenci liked Christie's falsetto voice and suggested that he listen to the Four Seasons' recent hit, "Sherry". Christie and his writing partner Twyla Herbert used the song as a model to write their original song called “The Gypsy Cried”. Wanting to create a new image Cenci changed the singer’s name to Lou Christie. They released the single in 1963. It became a hit, selling 30,000 copies in Pittsburgh.

Biography :
The Casanovas were a spiritual quartet turned rhythm and blues group from High Point, North Carolina. They started out as the Jubilee Kings a few years after World War II, joining Frank and Willie McWilliams with nephews Chester and L. D. Mayfield. The teens sang right up to, through, and past the Korean War (they were all drafted and became paratroopers during the campaign) until they were discovered by 5 ROYALES roadie Bob Woodward in 1954. He introduced them to William Samuels, brother-in-law of Lowman Pauling of the 5 Royales, and Melvin Stowe, both from nearby Winston-Salem.
Bess Berman (Apollo) Chester Mayfield
By 1954 the spiritual quartet became an R&B quintet. Woodward had contacts at Apollo Records and sent owner Bess Berman one of the group's demo tapes. The result was a trip to New York for the vocalists to record their first songs in November 1954. "That's All" (April 1955), with Chester singing lead, was their first release on Apollo. (The group sported three lead singers, and each had several chances to front the group on subsequent recordings.) "That's All" was a straightforward R&B ballad with no particular merit other than the appealing harmony and a sincere reading from the lead. Their second single, out in May, was a blues ballad with harmonic turns reminiscent of THE MOONGLOWS' 1953 Chance masterpiece "Baby Please." Plodding ahead, the group recorded and released a third single in July titled "I Don't Want You to Go."

Willie McWilliams Frank McWilliams
Though no more distinguished than its predecessors, this song's Chester-penned melody did serve as the nucleus for Lowman Pauling's "Dedicated to the One I Love », which he and his 5 Royales released in 1957 and which later became a hit for THE SHIRELLES in 1961 (#3)and THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS in 1967 (#2). The week before Christmas brought in the Casanovas' next ballad A side (come to think of it, all of their A sides were ballads), a nice high-tenor recording by Melvin Stowe called "My Baby's Love." The Carolina quintet didn't record or have a record out in 1956 and worked mostly on a local club basis. In the summer of 1957 they returned to New York for another shot, recording the beautiful ballad "Please Be Mine". Their last 45 came out in 1958 but by this time it was apparent that Apollo was just going through the motions, and the group gave up singing together by the end of the decade. No, they didn't have any hits,
