    Biography :

    Sal Marino was born and raised in New Jersey and spent much of his youth in Hudson County, he went on to Memorial High School in West New York. Following high school, Sal Marino began to march to the beat of a different drum, and off to show business he went.

    Through song and dance, Sal Marino and his buddy, Freddie Marione, entertained crowds across the country, in a musical act the pair dubbed The Tu-Tones. They performed at the Ted Mack Amateur Hour in Seaside Heights and won twice.

    After coming into contact with Ted Mack, a famous radio and television show host of the era, the duet met Teresa Brewer — a famous pop singer — who took them under her wing. She helped to get them a recording contract. The Tu-Tones cut two singles on Cabot Records  founded by Paul Wexler in January 1957 in New York.
