The Girlfriends comprised three Los Angeles session singers (former member of Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans Carolyn Willis, Nanette Williams, and Blossom Gloria Jones) who were promised a more substantial career.

They had a # 49 hit in 1964 with the very Spector-ish "My One and Only Jimmy Boy", written and produced by David Gates for Colpix Records.
